(1)动机作用
情绪、情感是伴随人的需要是否满足而产生的体验，它对人的行为具有推动或抑制作用。

(3)信号作用
情绪和情感是人向他人表达、传递自身需要及状态(如愉快、愤怒等)的信号。这种信号功能主要通过情绪情感的外显形式——表情及言语来实现。新生儿几乎完全借助于他的面部表
情、动作、姿态及不同的声音表情等，与成人进行着信息交流，相互了解，引起其与成人的交往，或者维持、调整交往。
(4)感染作用
情绪、情感的感染作用是指在一定的条件下，一个人的情绪、情感可以影响别人，使之产生
同样的情绪、情感。此种以情动情的现象，称为情绪、情感的感染作用。
